A sadly underrated books, "Yolanda's Genius" is an honest story about the idea of intelligence and survival.I found Yolanda as a welcomed addition to the African American fictional field. Even as an older white woman, I found that the story was enriched since I could empathize with Yolanda and her struggles with self identity and defending her brother's value. I wish this book would have been longer. I really enjoyed the storyline, and I wish this book had a sequel. My only big issue was when the author switched point of views in the middle of the story.
