Although the book tends to be missing a majority of the monsters, Hamilton's Mythology is a great first step into reading Greek and Roman mythology. And for you Norse fans, there is even a section of Norse myths in the back. Hamilton does note that the Norse myths would have been great if: a) They had poets more interesting in entertaining instead of recording, and b) if we had not lost so much of the myths due to Christianity. Great books, I recommend for anyone. Also, it should be noted that this was one of the books all English teachers encourage young adults to invest into, due to the literary imagery.
